JOB SUMMARY: Provide one-on-one instruction services for a developmentally disabled adult.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provides daily support and instruction as needed.
- Assists individual with performing work tasks.
- Provides instruction on new work tasks. Tracks individual’s progress daily
- Reports relevant information, progress and program recommendations to the Developmental Training Coordinator and Case Manager.
- Works as part of a team with Developmental Training and Case Management Departments in implementing program needs.
- Educate, promote and provide support to individuals in making healthy lifestyle
choices, as referenced in the DSP health and safety and health and nutrition
training curriculums and/or service plans.
- Identify and utilize effective advocacy strategies to overcome the diverse challenges facing individuals, i.e., human rights, legal, administrative and financial.
- Documents and reports all behavioral concerns to the Case Manager at the time of the incidents.
- Accompanies worker on community integrated training sessions.
- Monitors individual’s movement through the building for safety purposes.
- The employee may be asked to perform other duties as required by the employer’s business needs.
MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ensures safety of all consumers under his/her supervision
- Attends staffings as requested
PHYSICAL AND VISUAL ACTIVITES:
Communicating, understanding spoken language, far and near visual acuity.
Lifting over 50 lbs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid and acceptable driving record required
- Meet requirements of the TABE reading and math surveys required
- One year of related experience preferred
- Good interpersonal skills
- Must be able to lift and transfer adult(s) from wheelchair to toilet and back
